Coaching and Training at SATTC
In order to provide a structure for on site (Alamo Family Fitness Center) table tennis training, and to ensure that our club activities are conducted within guidelines, the SATTC board of directors has adopted the following interim policy, to be revised as needed:
The San Antonio Table Tennis Club encourages training not only for beginners but for all who seek to improve their game.
Table tennis clinics will be offered from time to time in the future. Meanwhile, individual training is available at Alamo Family Fitness Center within the following guidelines.
• SATTC members are entitled to use Club tables for instruction, coaching and training, long as this does not interfere with regular, non-coaching table tennis activities.
• Each individual is responsible for contacting and making arrangements with an instructor / coach / trainer regarding program focus, scheduling and negotiating payment, if any.
• SATTC is not involved in whether or not such instructing or coaching involves a fee paid to the coach - or is a voluntary (pro bono) arrangement - nor the amount of any fees, if any - and instead leaves this to individual agreements.
• If you don't know of someone who is competent and willing to coach, contact the SATTC training coordinator, Steve Claflin, and ask him for a name(s). Similarly, if you are a dues-paid SATTC member and willing to serve as a coach, contact Steve about placing your name on the list of SATTC instructors / trainers / coaches.
• Personal coaching / training sessions may be scheduled and conducted during regularly scheduled TT time, at any time a table is available, but NOT when other players are waiting to use the same table. It's best to schedule coaching / practice during times of comparatively low use, such as Fridays from 11 am to 4 pm or Saturdays after 4 pm. Also, Tuesday or Thursday evenings are often available but first call AFFC at 479-8282 and make certain a room is open.
